About Woofy Doo’s Foundation
Woofy Doo’s Foundation was established to aid and assist owners and their pets, our dedicated team are passionate and committed to making a difference. We have first-hand personal experience with challenging, worrying and stressful times with our own beloved fury family member Cooper.
Keeping pets well, healthy and with their owners is our primary focus.
In recent years we worked to support locally with essential basic grooming services through our grooming salon “Woofy Doo’s Grooming” to those most in need, this has been a vital service and one that was much in need. By offering this service we have been exposed to the wider health and social issues people are facing every day. We also understand the challenging financial times we are currently facing and believe this should not be a barrier for you or your fury family member.
This has been a growing problem since 2003 as shown in the figures below.
- 51% of vets have put down a pet cat or dog because the owners couldn't afford to treat them
- 80% of vets have had an uninsured dog or cat owner decline a course of treatment because they couldn't afford it
- 1.6 million people have had to put down at least one pet dog or cat because they can't afford treatment. In total, the research shows that 927,000 dogs and 822,000 cats were put down for this reason between 2003 and 2008.
More up to date research also shows that:
- 99% of vets have seen pets which should have been brought to them for treatment earlier, with 91% reporting that financial reasons were the main factor.
- 52% of vets also said the number of clients reporting difficulty covering the cost of preventative veterinary care for their animal had increased compared to 2021.
- This figure rose to 70% when it came to covering the cost of diagnostic care and treatment.
- Record numbers of owners are asking to hand over their dogs: an average 188 handover requests per day in February 2023 compared to an average 141 handover requests per day in 2022, which was itself a record-breaking year (ending in over 50,000 rehoming requests).

This is why Woofy Doo’s Foundation C.I.C has been set up – to help those who are struggling both mentally and financially to look after their pets in the current difficult climate.
Woofy Doo’s Foundation is the not-for-profit arm of Woofy Doo’s Dog Grooming which provides all grooming needs for the local community of St.Helens.
About Us
What We DO
We offer confidential advice and guidance in an informal and friendly manner so that pet owners can come to us as a first port of call with any concerns they have about the wellbeing and care of their beloved pet. This will prevent vets receiving pets when it is too late to help.
We are here to ensure that family pets are looked after in times of financial crisis. We will offer financial help to those in need to ensure that vet bills are not a barrier to looking after the health and well-being of our beloved pets.
We help with day to day care of family pets when the owners may be struggling. We link with mental health and wellbeing charities to signpost where needed.
We offer care packages which include flea treatment, wormers, shampoo, brush, food, healthy treats and essentials like bowls. All care packages are fully adapted to meet the needs of individuals. These care packages are used as a prevention to pets needing veterinary treatment.
We help pet owners so that they can continue to look after their pet during difficult times to prevent the need for rehoming. This also helps rehoming charities manage their caseload and avoid having to turn people away.
OUR AIMS:
- To prevent much loved family pets being rehomed due to financial problems
- To help loving owners with vet bills in times of crisis
- To raise money to ensure the health and wellbeing of family pets is maintained at all times
- To support the mental health and well-being of pet owners during financial tough times.
- To prevent poor health of family pets through carefully curated care packages and signposting to vet care when necessary, with our financial support
- To be the first port of call for owners who are struggling to look after their beloved pets.
